Submit an Abstract

Abstracts are being sought for oral presentations (10 minute presentation) on all aspects of laryngology (including voice, swallowing and upper airway).

Categories include:

• voice disorders (assessment and management)
• swallowing disorders (assessment and management)
• biological science (eg laryngeal anatomy, inflammation, immunity and pathophysiology)
• phonosurgery
• other surgical and medical interventions (eg laryngeal conditions such as papilloma, scar or early malignancy; airway stenosis etc)
• cough and irritable larynx
• vocal cord dysfunction
• paediatric laryngology
• neurolaryngology
• advances in laryngology (eg genetics, laryngeal transplant and regenerative medicine)
• interesting cases; and
• if your abstract does not fit into these categories, use the "other" category.

Key Dates

• Sunday 29 August 2021 - Submissions close.
• Friday 10 September 2021 – Submitting authors will be notified of acceptance/non acceptance into conference program.
• Tuesday 31 August 2021 – All presenting authors must have registered and paid for their attendance at the conference.
• 19 - 20 November 2021 – The 4th Laryngology Society of Australasia Conference commences.

Abstract Selection

The Scientific Programming Committee will review abstracts suitable for presentation at the conference, based on scientific validity and subject relevance.

In addition to the free papers, the scientific program will comprise keynote and invited papers, panels and clinical forums.

In submitting an abstract, authors acknowledge they will be required to present virtually at any time during the conference, as we cannot commit to time scheduling to suit all authors.

All submissions will be evaluated by the six members of the Scientific Programming Committee and the decision whether to accept or decline proposals will be final.

Accepted abstracts will be published on the virtual conference platform.

Abstract Format

Abstracts must be a maximum of 250 words and include the following:
1. Short Title (max 20 words)
2. Structure with the headings:

• background
• methods
• results
• conclusions
• Primary references (two key references advised)

Presentation Types

Oral Presentations

Oral Presentations will be allocated ten (10) minutes; consisting of eight (8) minutes to present plus two (2) minutes to answer questions. The scientific committee at its discretion may allocate more time for presentations.

Instructions and training will be provided for all presenters on how to use the virtual platform to deliver your presentation once abstracts are accepted into the program.

All presenting authors must register and pay for their attendance at the conference by Tuesday 31 August 2021.

The Organising Committee reserves the right to adjust the presentation time allocations as the program develops.
